Pinotage, the offspring of Pinot Noir, was carefully selected to complement the elegant structure of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with luscious fruit. The Brut Rosé captivates with its delicate pale pink colour and intoxicating red fruit aromas which further delight the palate with hints of strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavours.

Deep, youthful purple colour with a ruby rim. Intense dark brambly fruit on the nose, mulberry, liquorice and damson plum with hints of dark chocolate and spice, tempered by a stony minerality. The full bodied palate offers generous, ripe, pure Merlot fruit with refreshing acidity, structured yet silky tannins and pronounced length and minerality. There is a core of juiciness, opulence and richness typical of the variety, while the Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot lend greater complexity to the wine.

Lot 59 : Boschendal Brut NV (750ml X 6)
Pale gold with a flourish of delicate bubbles and enticing lemon cream and
almond Biscotti precedes a soft explosion of zesty lemon and orange peel
that finishes with appealing length and freshness. Maturation on the lees
provides a well rounded creamy mouth-feel with detectable minerality,
good balance and a seamless finish.
Enjoy well chilled as a rewarding social
sipper or riveting aperitif at all occasions. A natural affinity to strawberries
and delicious with almost any shellfish or seafood or sushi.
Lot 27 : Meerlust Rubicon 2016 (750ml X 3)
The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot vineyards are hand harvested from February through to March and each individual vineyard block is kept separate throughout the fermentation process and monitored until the moment of blending.
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel after which the wine is run off into 300 litre French Oak barrels.
In wintertime, after malolactic fermentation has allowed the personality of each vineyard to assert itself in barrel, the wines are carefully assessed to produce the most expressive, harmonious and complex wine. The blend is assembled and then allowed another year in barrel for the components to harmonise. The wine is finally bottled and left for a further 2 years before release. Rubicon is always released at four years of age and will immediately offer the distinctive character and quality of the Estate. However, further bottle maturation is advised for the intriguing complexity of this classic wine to unfold and reveal itself.

The only previous occassions this occurred was in 1985, 1990, 2002 and 2011. The Red 2019 is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant (43%) with 31% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The complexity and structure of this wine provides exceptional drinking pleasure after 8 years in bottle.
