A very rare release, heralded due to particular climate conditions leading the respected 18th century Meerlust Wine Estate to declassify its flagship Bordeaux-style blend Rubicon from the 2019 vintage. The only previous occassions this occurred was in 1985, 1990, 2002 and 2011. The Red 2019 is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant (43%) with 31% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. The complexity and structure of this wine provides exceptional drinking pleasure after 8 years in bottle. Compared to the older Meerlust Red vintages- from 85 to 11′- the style and greater Merlot content of the 2019, makes it softer and far more approachable. Offering a rare palate-pleasng experience
