Winning Bid: R700.00
Since 1888 a Lions Tour has always been about pitting the best players from the Home Unions against the best of the Southern Hemisphere. It is an unequalled sporting and touring experience that reaches far beyond playing the game.         Whilst a Lions Series presents the best of what rugby has to offer by way of integrity, respect, discipline, passion and solidarity it also elevates the positive impact that sport can achieve. It is with pride that Boschendal accepts the honour as official wine sponsor for the 2021 Series.         This year – the design is inspired by harmony through diversity, preciousness through scarcity and positivity in the face of challenge. The identity seeks to celebrate the unique vibrancy, positivity and diversity of South Africa. We have applied this inspired design to 2 commemorative wines for Boschendal.         Own a piece of Boschendal and Springbok history, to be enjoyed now or to cellar and appreciate in the future.         The wine we have selected for this is a 2019 Shiraz – predominantly from Elgin and Stellenbosch. The cool climate pepper spice notes are complemented by ripe red fruit aromas which follow through to the palate. Oak spice from judicious barrel aging adds complexity to a ripe plum, cherry and mulberry fruit core with silky, ripe tannins. The elegance, spice and freshness from Elgin combined with the Stellenbosch structure and intensity ensure that this wine will cellar exceptionally for 5 to 10 years.
